๐Ÿค Pathway 03 โ€” Surrogacy

Another Woman's Gift.
Your Child.
Our Careful Hands.

For those whose path to parenthood requires a surrogate, PROLIFE provides compassionate, medically supervised, legally supported surrogacy coordination โ€” from the first conversation to the day you hold your child.

The PROLIFE Surrogacy Difference

Surrogacy Done With
Integrity and Compassion

Surrogacy is not just a medical procedure. It is one of the most profound human relationships possible โ€” a woman choosing to carry a child for another family out of compassion and commitment. At PROLIFE, we treat this relationship with the reverence it deserves.

Our surrogacy programme is gestational โ€” meaning the surrogate carries an embryo created from the intended parents' genetic material and has no genetic connection to the child. Every surrogate is screened, supported, and cared for throughout her journey. Every intended parent is guided, protected, and celebrated at every milestone.

"Every child born through surrogacy at PROLIFE is a testimony โ€” of courage, of trust, and of what becomes possible when medicine, law, and human compassion work together."

Who Is Surrogacy For?

The Journey

How Surrogacy Works at PROLIFE

1
Months 1โ€“2

Initial Consultation & Assessment

A comprehensive surrogacy consultation for intended parents. Medical assessment confirms that surrogacy is the appropriate pathway. All questions are answered. The process, timeline, and costs are explained fully in writing.

2
Months 2โ€“4

Surrogate Matching

Identification, screening, and matching of a medically and psychologically suitable surrogate. This process is thorough and cannot be rushed. We do not proceed to legal or medical stages until we are fully satisfied with the match.

3
Month 3โ€“4

Legal Agreement

All parties sign a legally binding Surrogacy Agreement drafted by a qualified Nigerian solicitor. Independent legal advice is strongly recommended for all parties. No medical procedures begin until the agreement is in place.

4
Month 4โ€“5

Embryo Creation & Transfer

An IVF cycle is conducted using the intended parents' genetic material to create embryos. The surrogate undergoes endometrial preparation. The highest-quality embryo is transferred to the surrogate.

5
Months 5โ€“14

Pregnancy & LYFE Support

Pregnancy is confirmed and monitored. The surrogate is enrolled in the LYFE Surrogate Wellness Programme โ€” receiving total physical, nutritional, and emotional support through all three trimesters.

6
Delivery

Birth & Handover

Delivery is coordinated by our clinical team. The legal handover of the child to the intended parents is managed in accordance with the Surrogacy Agreement. Post-delivery support is provided to both the surrogate and the intended parents.

Your Questions

Surrogacy FAQ

Surrogacy is practised in Nigeria and is not explicitly prohibited by Nigerian law. There is currently no dedicated surrogacy legislation, which makes properly drafted legal agreements essential. At PROLIFE, we work alongside qualified Nigerian legal professionals to ensure all arrangements are appropriately documented. We strongly recommend that all parties obtain independent legal advice.
From initial consultation to birth, the surrogacy journey typically takes 12โ€“18 months โ€” including legal preparation (1โ€“3 months), surrogate matching (2โ€“4 months), the embryo transfer and pregnancy confirmation (1โ€“2 months), and the pregnancy itself (9 months).
Yes โ€” in the majority of cases. Gestational surrogacy at PROLIFE uses the intended parents' own genetic material where medically possible. Where egg or sperm donation is indicated, we will discuss donor options with you at your consultation.
Yes โ€” this is one of the most frequent use cases for our programme. Most of the surrogacy process can be coordinated virtually. In-person visits to Abuja are required at specific medical milestones โ€” primarily the embryo transfer and delivery.
